From Jail to Jesus
‘’I've been listening to your radio for three months and I'm confused. Between Jesus and Muhamed. Between Islam and Christianity. I am now completely frustrated. Have I believed in a prophet and his religion in vain all these years?‘’
With these few lines Mert started connecting with Petra Media Group. Gradually he opened up his heart to us and shared his story. He had been imprisoned for several years. During those dark times, he questioned his life and his faith a lot. Looking deeper into his faith, he started questioning it. For the past 10 years he had been so angry with God. It was after then he tuned into our broadcast. During the last 3 months he felt that his identity was slowly changing. He felt that God was calling him.
He talked with Petra staff for a long time. Today he is out of prison and working as a driver for a hotel. One day, his customers asked him to drive them to the Antalya church. After dropping them off, he felt the need to attend the service also. Even though he he could not understand anything due to a language barrier, he was touched by the Holy Spirit. The very next day he confessed that Jesus Christ is his Lord and Savior and he chose to follow Jesus.
He shared his decision with the Petra team in Ankara, who in turn connected him to a Petra team member in Antalya. After meeting together and working through discipleship lessons, he decided to be baptized on the 10th on November 2019. All Glory and Honor be to God! At his baptism he confessed once more that Jesus Christ is His Lord and Savior and that he would proclaim the Gospel to his entire family and that they would be baptized in the name of Jesus! Despite the fact that this brother had to move away from the Antalya region, our team and the Antalya church continue to visit him time to time.
